8 Signs That You Haven’t Been Drinking Sufficient Water

Water is crucial for survival. Living beings can’t last without it. Water in its pure and original form hydrates the body and helps it perform at an optimum speed.

Proper amount of water improves your health. Water adjusts body temperature and enhances digestion as well. Fresh water flushes toxins out of the body and replenishes the body with fluids.

Water acts as a reactant, meaning that many reactions and processes within the body require water.

Many people use juice, tea, energy drinks, coffee, and caffeinated drinks as water substitutes – but you should not do that. They sure are liquids, and are not the same as pure water. Energy drinks and coffee contain caffeine, which dehydrate the body.

If you don’t drink enough water, your body can show you some signs. Some of them are featured below:

1. Frequency of urination
You are likely to urinate six to seven times a day if you are healthy. But this number varies in everyone since not all of us drink the same amount of water. You need to drink more water if you urinate two to three times a day. Not enough water intake affects the function of the kidneys and leads to extreme complications. It might not be able to remove impurities from the body.

2. Dry skin
If you drink lots of water, it has a positive effect on your skin. If you don’t drink enough water, you cannot expect a nice and smooth skin. You need to keep your skin hydrated! It will prevent dryness from your skin.
If your skin is still dry after using tons of creams and moisturizers, your skin is still dry.

3. Headaches
Dehydration is one of the main causes of headaches. Dehydration-induced headaches are different than common headaches since they can get even more severe as you move. It can make it hard to bend down, move fast, climb up and down the stairs. The pain will get worse. So if you suffer this type of headache, don’t forget to refill your body with enough water.

4. Dry mouth
If you have a dry mouth, you will experience a lack of saliva. If your mouth remains dry for quite a while, you can be at a higher risk severe damage in your oral cavity and throat.
Dry mouth is usually caused by dehydration. So if your mouth is usually dry, keep a bottle of water handy.

5. Color of the urine
Your urine will be lightly colored if you are well hydrated. But it changes its color if the body doesn’t have enough water. Increase your water intake if your urine is darker. If your urine is brown, you are dealing with severe dehydration.
However, you should not drink several glasses of water at once since this may give you some serious problems. You need to drink your water slowly and carefully. This enables the body to distribute it to the required organs as required.

6. Hunger
If you feel hungry even after having your meal, if might mean that your body is dehydrated. Don’t do the mistake of confusing hunger with thirst. Drink a glass of water rather than attacking a bag of chips. You get the feeling of hungry probably because your body sometimes confuses the signals.

7. Dizziness
Sometimes dizziness can be a sign that your body needs water right away. You can feel dizzy after losing lots of fluids. Aside from dehydration, sometimes fluid buildups in your inner ear and may make you dizzy. Drink a glass of water every time you feel dizzy.

8. Symptoms of chronic dehydration
Chronic dehydration is revealed through many clear symptoms. However, most of them are overlooked. The condition is recognized only when its reached an advanced level.
The most common symptoms of chronic dehydration are:
• Urinary tract infections
• Premature aging
• Confusion / Anxiety
• Increased cholesterol levels
