Nurse Is Urging Every iPhone User To Make A Simple Change To Their Settings Right Now

A lot of us think that smartphones aren’t doing us any good. And why shouldn’t we? After all, they do take up our precious time and keep us focused on trivial matters, distracting us from what is happening in the real world.

A nurse decided to share the news about a vital feature on our iPhones that can help medical personnel treat you in a life-or-death situation.

It is called a Medical ID, and it is a free feature to anyone that’s interested. The nurse Julia Thompson shared on Facebook the importance of having a Medical ID for every smartphone user.

“Working in a public hospital and seeing patients in ER all the time, I see many patients come in, and we have had no way of knowing who they are, or how to contact their next of kin, or their medical history! And their phones are locked!

But many people don’t realize that you can set up something called a ‘Medical ID’ on your iPhone if you have the health app (free with phone). I didn’t even realize this when I got my own iPhone!

This information can be accessed even while the phone is locked by clicking on the emergency options and can display things like name, date of birth, emergency contacts, medical conditions and even blood type and donor status. You can even add notes!

I believe Android [users] have an app called ICE (‘in case of emergency’) that works similarly….”

To follow her useful advice, all you have to do is follow the instructions below:

This is how you can create your very own Medical ID on your iPhone:

1. Turn on your iPhone by pressing the “Power” or “Home” button.
2. On the home screen, find the “Health” app.
3. Once the app opens, tap on “Medical ID” in the bottom right-hand corner.

There’s more!

Now we come to the most important part – the filling of all your emergency information!

4. Select the “Edit” option.
5. Fill out the relevant medical information.

Don’t FORGET to: Turn on “Show When Locked” slider

6. Tap “Done” when you’re finished.

After you do this, first responders and medical staffs can easily access all the essential information about your health, when the iPhone’s display is illuminated. Once you have activated it, you can see the feature in the bottom left-hand corner of the lock screen.

Medical staffs, when they get an immediate access to your medications, age, medical condition and emergency contacts, can make a difference in certain life or death situations. So don’t forget to create your Medical ID today!
